Balance is pretty crucial in life. It is what stops you from going crazy and losing your functionality. It is also important when it comes to witchcraft because as a witch you need to learn to balance between different aspects not only inside you but outside as well.
One aspect that requires balance is that of the elements. As a witch, it is clear that everything in nature is intertwined and one cannot happen without the other. Moreover, witches tend to play with the elements a lot; they incorporate the four elements along with spirit into their magical workings. And some of them are elemental witches, meaning their path involves working with the elements and that is what feels true to them.
Balance the Elements
Now when it comes to being an elemental witch, one could make use of all the elements or he or she could focus on one element, such as an earth witch would mostly be focusing on the element of earth and might not feel her strength in the other elements. And that is fine but all the elements are interconnected and it is best to learn to balance them all.
Being an earth witch, you might focus your spells and rituals around the element of earth, such as doing grounding techniques and spending time in nature, but one cannot ignore the other elements. You cannot ignore the fire element when you are out soaking up the sun or need fire to burn sage or incense when doing your spell work. Similarly, water is needed for cleansing and air is needed to blow out the fire. Focusing on just one element would make you lose focus on the others and that is not something that is viable when it comes to being a witch because as a witch you honor all the elements equally. Yes, your affinity might lie with one element but you must keep a balance with all the other elements.
Moreover, according to the Chinese the body is made up of different elements as well such as water, air, earth, fire and metal. And if there is an imbalance in any of these elements, then the body can suffer from various diseases and even cravings. So not only the elements outside need to be kept in balance, the ones inside your body need to be balanced to.
Yin and Yang
Another aspect of being a witch is the darkness and light one holds inside himself or herself. Whether you are a witch or not, there is darkness and light in all of us and at times one becomes heavier than the other and the imbalance can result in a lot of issues. At times people do not wish to acknowledge one part of themselves, be it light or dark and therefore suffer from different psychological issues because refusing to accept one part does not mean it does not exist. And repressing that part is like suppressing a part of yourself which is not acceptable and can prevent you being who you truly are.
Furthermore, just because there is darkness inside you does not mean it’s all bad just as light isn’t all good. There would be no light without darkness and vice versa and when you are doing magical workings, there are times when you have to do dark magic even though your intentions are not evil, similarly white magic is not always performed with the purest of intentions.
We as humans have both dark and light inside of us and balancing both of them can result in us living up to our full potential, which is what we ultimately want. Though it is not easy, it works wonders when we accomplish it.
Chakras in Harmony
Another area which requires balance is the seven chakras. The imbalance of the chakras is not something one desires as it can lead to a lot of physical and psychological issues. Imbalance in the heart chakra can lead to cardiac issues as well as emotional issues, whereas imbalance of the throat chakra can lead to throat issues and fear of speaking in public or not being able to convey your message properly.
Each chakra is responsible for something and if there are issues with that particular chakra or a combination of chakras, then problems corresponding to that chakra arise, which can lead to significant discomfort for the individual. And folks, that is why keeping check and balance is so important and just as difficult.
